Tonken's expressive compositions and sound design explore a wide range of emotion
and musical styles. Whether it’s organic handmade kids music or a hi tech
sound design thrill ride, Wade communicates with energy and style. His original work can be heard on Nickelodeon,
Fox, ABC, NBC and PBS among others.
Born in Massapequa Park, New York to a show biz family, he began his musical training from his baby seat listening to Chopin Etudes, while his Mom gave ballet lessons in their Long Island home.
Piano lessons, which began at age eight, were quickly put aside for guitar during
the Beatles craze. Wade became an accomplished rock guitarist and in college
mastered an unusually demanding classical guitar repertoire.
Moving to New York City in the mid-eighties, Wade began earning his reputation as a multi-instrumentalist with his band “Boyslife” where he played guitar and keyboards, literally at the same time. The bands music video "Mannequin Depression" won MTV's "Basement Tapes" and can still be found on Youtube.
After “Boyslife” Wade opened his recording studio and started composing for film, advertising and TV.
Always going the extra mile and applying an open-minded resourcefulness to each project he has worked on, Wade’s career and company Noize Factory have grown steadily since.
Recent projects include SpongeBob "Pest of the West", Nickelodeon’s “Kid’s Pick the President”, VH1's “Air VH1 ”, ABC's "Good Morning America", A&E's "Our Generation" and the Sundance Award winning "Education of Shelby Knox".
